RYA to launch first fully interactive online training course
On Friday 07 January (15.00 stand A85) at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show, held at Excel, London the RYA will be launching its brand new fully interactive online training course – Essential Navigation and Seamanship.
The course is aimed at everyone, from those new to sailing and motorboating including RIBs and other small powerboats, sea anglers and divers right through to experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers. Being online means it’s completely flexible as to when and where you take it and it allows you to work though it at your own speed.
Richard Falk, RYA Training Manager, who will be officially launching the new course at the show said: “Essential Navigation and Seamanship is a great starting point before moving on to more advanced navigation courses such as Day Skipper, it forms a real building block approach to training.
“The course also makes an ideal accompaniment to back up the knowledge required for practical courses whether you’re a new or inexperienced skipper or crew, or just a bit rusty.”
Written by top RYA training experts and designed by award winning E-learning designers the course is easy to use, fully interactive and packed with engaging graphics and clear instructions. Alongside the online technology it also incorporates the use of practice charts in your learning.
Some of the topics you will cover in the course include; engine checks, passage planning, rules of the road, tidal awareness, buoyage and much more and throughout the show you’ll have the opportunity to trial the course on the RYA stand (A85)
“The beauty of this course is you also get the chance to learn and practice before you do your final test. There’s a taster session on the website so that you can take a look before you sign up”, continued Richard.
As with all RYA courses it will be delivered via RYA recognised training centres, giving you access to instructors via email or telephone to provide help if you need it, and you’ll be provided with a course pack containing a handbook, training charts and a plotter – everything you need to complete the course.
For the launch of this exciting new course we are also including a free set of dividers to help you get started with your navigation.
